iMonitor Training Programme: Empowering Monitors Across Three Countries
The iMonitor project has achieved yet another milestone in its mission to empower citizens as vigilant watchdogs of public contract implementation in their communities. Our NGO partners in Italy, Romania, and Catalonia (Spain) have successfully completed the delivery of our comprehensive skill development program, with the participation of 107 civic monitors in total from their emerging monitoring networks.
Tailored Training for Maximum Impact
The training events, held last April and May, were meticulously tailored to best suit the profile and circumstances of the monitors in each country. This approach aligns with iMonitor’s philosophy of providing a general monitoring methodology that can be adapted to each country’s context and the unique characteristics of their monitoring networks.
- Romania: Our partner, SAR, engaged young student monitors through an energetic in-person event filled with interactive group activities. This dynamic approach sparked their enthusiasm for the monitoring process, fostering a strong commitment to transparency.
- Italy: Our partner, Monithon, conducted multiple online training sessions, covering different parts of the training program. This format allowed participants from across the country, from northern Turin to southern Calabria, to connect and learn together. The flexibility of online sessions, coupled with hands-on experience using tools like opentender.eu to identify high-risk contracts, proved highly effective.
- Catalonia: Our partner, Colpis, offered hybrid training sessions to accommodate a diverse range of monitors, including experienced professionals familiar with public procurement procedures. This hybrid approach also facilitated direct interaction and experience-sharing among monitoring groups.
From Training to Action
The result? Equipped with new skills, our trained monitors are now actively engaging in monitoring high-risk contracts within their communities. For several weeks, these dedicated monitors have been collecting information on specific contracts and are already drafting their first monitoring reports using the iMonitor reporting tool developed by Monithon. With ongoing guidance and support from iMonitor partners, these civic monitors are putting their skills to the test, significantly contributing to enhancing transparency and accountability in public procurement.Check out our full set of training materials – available in different languages – on our Training Programme page, and stay tuned as we continue this exciting journey together to build stronger, more engaged communities! 🚀✨
